PEC's projects represent various battery energy storage solutions that have been applied for, built, and/or run across the United States. Below are a few exciting new projects that we've chosen to highlight from our portfolio.
PEC is in the process of developing a 2-MW BESS in Harrison, NJ that is connected to the grid to provide frequency regulation for PJM. PEC has agreed on terms to lease the property, and has obtained an approved Wholesale Market Participation Agreement, and subject to zoning approval, hopes to break ground in Q4 of 2016. The BESS will consist of 2 1-MW containerized systems that are going to be installed at the front of the property and connected via a 13.2 kV overhead line at the street, leading back into the grid. We plan to have the system operational in Q1 of 2017.
PEC has applied to PJM for a feasibility study to allow for a 20-40 MW Battery Energy Storage System that we intend to place in Harrison, NJ. The project will be providing Ancillary Services to help balance the transmission system as it moves electricity from generating source to ultimate consumers. PEC expects to have approvals for this project within the next 12 months. The project should be fully operational by the end of 2017.
